FAM&M Changes Name to Fleetwood Insurance Group

CHESTERTOWN — After decades of being known as Fleetwood, Athey, MacBeth, & McCown, Inc. (FAM&M), the agency announced it has changed its name. The new name of the agency is Fleetwood Insurance Group.

“While our name and logo will change, our commitment to our customers will not” explained President Creg Fleetwood. “It’s the same people, the same great service, and the same tradition of excellence. In making the decision to change the name, we wanted our name to clearly define what we do — insurance!” he said.

This is not the first name change for the agency. Its roots trace back to two well-respected insurance agencies with a long history in Kent County. The Kirby-Fleetwood Agency was formed in 1946, but in 1957 the name was changed to Fleetwood-MacBeth. In 1968, Fleetwood-Macbeth merged with the Townsend-Kane Agency and became known as Fleetwood, Kane, MacBeth & McCown. In 1974, Edward Athey joined the agency, and the name was changed to Fleetwood, Athey, MacBeth & McCown (FAM&M). Current President Creg Fleetwood is the grandson of one of the founding partners, Robert T. Fleetwood.

Along with the name change, the agency has a new logo that pays homage to its long history as FAM&M. “We took the falcon image from the FAM&M logo and created a more modern and stylized version,” said Fleetwood. “In a way, the new name and logo represent how the company is spreading its wings and moving forward by adding an office in Easton, hiring new agents, and improving our technology to better serve our clients.”

The agency’s new branch office in Easton is located at 141 N. Harrison St. This office will be managed by new hire Spencer McAllister, who will be supported by the Chestertown branch staff. McAllister is a native of Easton and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2009 where he played lacrosse. Rusty Poisson, also recently hired by Fleetwood, will work in the Easton and Chestertown offices. He is a 2007 graduate of Washington College and has a diversified customer service background in the Talbot County area.
