Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack:
On August 11, 2018 at approximately 8 PM, MSP Centreville Barrack initiated operation “Aaaaaaarrr You Sober”. This operation was in support of the Pirates and Wenches festival which is hosted annually in Rock Hall, Maryland. During recent years, statistics have indicated that there is an increased amount of intoxicated operators traveling through Kent County, Maryland during the weekend of this event.
MSP Centreville Barrack with the assistance of the MSP Spider Team, CTAU, Rock Hall PD and Kent County Sheriff’s office conducted focused patrols in the surrounding area. During the initiative four operators were apprehended for DUI along with one operator for Controlled Dangerous Substance (not marijuana).
There were also two civil citations issued for marijuana violations. Troopers conducted 24 traffic stops issuing 29 citations and 18 warnings along with 3 Safety Equipment Repair Orders. MSP personnel in the initiative also assisted with the apprehension of a fugitive fleeing by vehicle and later on foot from Chestertown PD.
