It’s not unusual for an August evening to be hot and muggy, and the evening for August 18th in Chestertown was just that. It didn’t keep folks away from the Annual Legacy Day celebration Chestertown.
One of the great things about Legacy Day is that it’s becomes a party with people coming together to have a great time with dancing in the Streets.
Legacy Day was started as an effort to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African Americans in Kent County. This year’s theme of how black and white students and teachers dealt with the early years of integration in Kent County schools.
Note:
I was one of those students moving from a 2 room 5 grade school house in Worton to the 4th grade in Chestertown in 1967, the year that Kent County School’s integrated.
