Ellie Lienert – Shorewoman of the Week
Junior sailor Ellie Lienert (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Lienert helped the sailing team qualify for the War Memorial – the MAISA Fall Co-Ed Dinghy Championships – for the first time in three years thanks to the team’s fourth-place overall finish at the Luce Regatta this weekend.
Lienert, a crew, sailed with skipper Will Sunkler in A Division, where they placed third. They finished in the top five in seven of the division’s 15 races. The top three finishing teams at the Luce who hadn’t already qualified for the War Memorial secured the 13th, 14th, and 15th, bids for the 18-team War Memorial.
Liam Mansfield – Shoreman of the Week
Junior soccer player Liam Mansfield (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Mansfield scored a goal in each of the Shoremen’s wins in a 2-0 week.
Mansfield rang a shot off the post and in in the 44th minute of a 4-0 non-conference win over Wesley Wednesday to give Washington a 3-0 halftime lead. In Saturday’s 2-0 Centennial Conference victory over Ursinus, Mansfield scored the game’s first goal in the 30th minute.
