The Town of Chestertown has received their 3rd Sustainable Maryland Certified award! The Town of Chestertown was one of the first four communities in Maryland to become Sustainable Maryland Certified, and has just been recertified! The town gives thanks to their Environmental Committee for helping to lead the way on the Town’s sustainability initiatives!
Sustainable Maryland is a certification program for municipalities in Maryland that want to go green, save money and take steps to sustain their quality of life over the long term. Sustainable Maryland is a collaborative effort between the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) at the University of Maryland and the Maryland Municipal League to replicate the success of the Sustainable Jersey initiative throughout the Mid-Atlantic States, beginning in Maryland.

Berlin, Chestertown, Cottage City (New), Emmitsburg, Laurel, Mount Rainier, Poolesville, Rockville (this year’s Sustainability Champion)
