Julia Portmann – Shorewoman of the Week
Senior swimmer Julia Portmann (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Portmann won two individual events and swam on a winning relay at the Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Portmann won the 1650 freestyle in 18:02.95 and the 500 freestyle in 5:14.52. She placed second in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.02. She swam the anchor leg of the winning 800 freestyle relay, which finished in a time of 8:00.37.
This is Portmann’s ninth career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
Brett Edwards – Shoreman of the Week
Sophomore swimmer Brett Edwards (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Edwards turned in an impressive performance at the Yellow Jacket Invitational Friday and Saturday.
Edwards won the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.14. He was also second in the 100 breaststroke in 59.57 and 12th in the 200 individual medley in 2:02.24. He also swam the breaststroke leg of the 400 medley relay, which placed third in 3:34.79.
This is the second career Shoreman of the Week honor for Edwards.
