The Soroptimist International of Kent & Queen Anne’s Counties February guest speaker was Aundra Anderson, Next Generation Scholars, Coordinator. The meeting was held on February 17, 2020 at the Amy Lynn Ferris Adult Activities Center in Chestertown.
The funding is used for college access to enhance college and career awareness and college completion for Maryland middle and high school students. The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education has been awarded grants by the Maryland State Department of Education to work in Allegany, Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, and Wicomico counties. Presently there are 171 students in Kent County enrolled in the program in grades 9, 10, and 11.
Students participate in Maryland Scholars, STEM sessions, college visits, 1:1 meetings, summer workshops, soft skills, mock interviews, and trips that include visiting the Youth Congress Day.
