Kent Center opened its doors to area shelters to help animals find love before Valentine’s Day. The ‘Lonely Hearts’ adoption event was hosted at their Chestertown Center, benefiting Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue and Education Center and The Animal Care Shelter of Kent County.
Shelters brought rescued animals that were looking for their fur-ever homes to meet potential adoptive families. Volunteers from both organizations were available to share info on the adoption process and answer questions. The event was open to the public and well attended by the community that Kent Center serves.
“The people we support love animals, while owning their own isn’t always feasible, helping animals in need is a great way we can give back to our community.” said Courtney Williams, Administration Director.
Happily hopping home were two bunnies adopted on-site through ESRREC. The organization brought a variety of bunnies that guests could meet and volunteers from the rescue were happy to share information about their personalities and care. ESRREC also offered two sessions of their Bunny Basics Seminar for new and current bunny owners to refresh their knowledge and skills.
In addition to furry friends you could meet, the event boasted pet-friendly vendors including Pooches and Smooches and Happy Chicken. Guests of the event collected donations for Chesapeake Cats and Dogs to help their shelter and foster parents. Kent Center is already planning another adoption event for the fall to help other area dog rescues.
