At the conclusion of the 4-H’s annual Achievement and Recognition Banquet, which was held at the Millington Fire Hall on March 1, 2020, the Family of the Year is Announced. The Family of the Year for 2019 are the Matthews Family. Will, Jessica, Jessie, Chloie, Kenney, Kassie and Kiley.
To be eligible for the honor the family much have at least one UME volunteer and one youth in 4-H activities. They are well known for the dedication to the 4-H program.
The Matthews have been involved for 11 years beginning when their oldest child reached Clover age. They also have a long family history with the 4-H with siblings, parents and grandparents involved in the 4-H.
Will is an active Ag Center and Fair volunteer and a member of the Ag Center Building sub-committee. Jessica is an UME 4-H volunteer with the clubs Bits and Bridles, Kent Clover Calf and Triple Shots.
Cholie earlier in the program won the Challenge to Serve Award as well one of the event’s greeter along with Kiley. Kenney was one of the events MC’s and is the Triple Shots Vice President and a senior 4-H Ambassador. Kasie was also involved with the event as one of the Beverage Dispensers.
Commissioner Tom Mason presented the family the award.
