In light of the current status of the COVID-19 virus, in our community and in Kent County, we will not be holding our Regular Business Meeting this Thursday, April 9, 2020. We hope to hold the meeting in some remote fashion next Thursday.
Our focus over the past few weeks has been on the safety and well-being of our staff and citizens while also continuing to provide needed services. The pandemic has dramatically altered the landscape and will have an impact on decisions on matters currently before the council and those that we will make in the future. The council’s mandate is to always make decisions that are for the good of the town. We feel that additional information is needed (which translates to additional time) before we can make appropriate decisions. We feel that postponing our regularly scheduled meeting is what is needed at this time.
We recognize and appreciate how our community has risen to meet this challenge head on. We owe a special thanks to the Town employees who have tirelessly continued to provide a high level of service. These are difficult times; your personal cooperation and sacrifice is what will get us ALL through.
