The 49th Commencement for Kent County High School was on May 30, 2020. It was without a doubt the most unusual one in the school’s history. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic the event was not held in front of a packed audience in the school’s gym. It was a virtual ceremony. One that the school pre-recorded and showed Drive-in style at the school for the graduates and their families and online.
Many of these graduates were born just after the 9-11 Attacks and now have finished their High School journey in first months of a global pandemic. They have seen many technology advancements. Some that was used not only to produce the graduation ceremony but helped them to enjoy their last months together in ways that would have been considered as Science Fiction to the first graduating class in 1972.
To the class of 2020, I offer my congratulations. It’s a Great Day to be a Trojan!
