The County Commissioners of Kent County, Maryland recognize the distressing economic impacts of COVID-19. We are offering grant funds to impacted, local, for-profit, small businesses.
The Kent County Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Grant Fund offers working capital to assist Kent County for-profit, small businesses with disrupted operations due to COVID-19. Grant assistance is intended to provide interim relief complementing arrangements with the business’ bank, business interruption insurance, financial institutions, federal and state partners.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Grants of $1,000 for Kent County for-profit businesses. The funds must be expended within 90 days of receipt and the applicant must provide documentation on how the funds were expended. Businesses must have been established prior to January 1, 2020 and have not more than 4 employees on March 5, 2020. Applicants that have not received COVID-19 funding (grants and/or loans) from other sources will be given priority.
Business must be physically located in Kent County, be in good standing with the State of Maryland, Comptroller of Maryland, and Kent County.
Eligible uses include working capital to support payroll, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses or other expenses that occur in the ordinary course of business operations. The goal of this grant fund is to provide small businesses and/or sole proprietors with emergency grant funds to continue business operations or restart the business once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible businesses. Applicants that have not received COVID-19 funding grants and/or loans from other sources will be processed first. Once the applicants are verified and approved, pending funding availability, the applicant will receive the grant check via mail. Applications will be processed within 15 business days of receipt.
