The Kitchen to Host First Outdoor Street Dining this Saturday Night

Flyer: Chestertown al Fresco
Chestertown, MD – The Town of Chestertown will close High Street between Court and Queen Streets this Saturday, June 13,2020 from 3 to 11 p.m. to allow The Kitchen restaurant to expand its outdoor dining into the street.

The idea of blocking public streets and plazas to allow restaurants to provide safely distanced tables for their customers is catching hold across the country as local governments strive to help businesses make needed accommodations during the novel-coronavirus pandemic. As another local example, the Town of Chestertown granted 98 Cannon Riverfront Grille temporary use of the adjacent Grassymeade Plaza for overflow seating.

This Saturday’s street dining will begin at 6:00 p.m., weather permitting. Reservations are required; call The Kitchen at 410-778-5001.

If the concept proves popular, the “Chestertown al Fresco” dinners might continue as a regular feature on High Street and elsewhere downtown where restaurants need to expand dining space. A listing of restaurants in Chestertown’s Arts & Entertainment District that are offering outdoor dining along with take-out menus, is updated regularly at MainStreetChestertown.org.
