Washington College is delighted to announce that Michael Harvey, the John S. Michael’s teaching earns high praise from students, alumni, and colleagues. And, as he has demonstrated in key service positions such as department chair and Faculty Council chair, Michael is deeply committed to the support of faculty and students required for great teaching and learning in the liberal arts and the need for strategic growth in our academic programs.

Michael had this to say: “I am honored to succeed Patrice, who has been a tireless champion of liberal-arts education. And I am truly humbled that I’ll be occupying the same office as Joachim Scholz, who was such a great Provost and Dean under John Toll when I started at the College back in 1998. Today we face big challenges, but the opportunity to work with Wayne Powell, our senior leadership team, and our amazing faculty gives me confidence that we will be able to meet those challenges with hard work, creative thinking, and support from our alumni, Board, and all our friends. I can’t wait to get started.”
