A week after the original dedication was rained-out Chestertown Main Street dedicated their new stage with a Ribbon Cutting. After the dedication Best Kept Soul took the stage to play music for the Motown Themed Street Party that followed.
From a Press Release from Main Street Chestertown, “Main Street Chestertown purchased the Stageline SL75 mobile stage last year so the Town could provide a safe, professional stage for civic and nonprofit events. Deployed by trained members of the Town Street Department, the stage unfolds from a trailer and boasts a hydraulically raised roof.” The stage has a number of accessories including safety railings, side panels, expansion wings, and hydraulic stabilizers.
The stage was purchase through funds from The Maryland Heritage Area Authority/Stories of the Chesapeake which provided a $54,300 matching grant, and the Robert F. Schumann Foundation provided $35,000. The Town contributed $5,000 and Main Street contributed the final $10,000 to reach the total purchase price.
Part of the dedication was also a farewell ceremony for outgoing Chestertown Main Street Manger, Kay MacIntosh. After Town Council Person Tom Kerz read a proclamation from the town MacIntosh was presented a Key to the City. She also was received gifts from the Chestertown Main Street Board and the Downtown Chestertown Association.
