Altercation Leads to Lockdown at High School

WORTON — Kent County High School was placed on lockdown Monday morning, Feb. 14 as law enforcement officers investigated an alleged altercation.

Two male students reportedly got into an altercation during first period in the boys’ athletic locker room. One student was allegedly stabbed by the other student.

Both students were transported to the hospital. No life-threatening injuries have been reported.
The Kent County Sheriff’s Office reported that the student who allegedly stabbed the other was treated and released from the hospital and placed in police custody.

As a result of the incident, Kent County High School was put on lockdown, with all students sheltering in place while law enforcement conducted their investigation.

The lockdown was lifted before the end of second period.

Kent County High School is dismissing students at the normal time today. Parents may pick up their children early if they wish.

Counseling services are available to students to help support them in the wake of this incident.
