The Peoples Bank Board is happy to announce two new members: Mr. Terry Mead and current President and CEO, J. Scott Sturgill. Both officially joined the board at the Bank’s monthly Board meeting held on May 18.
J. Scott Sturgill, with 35 years of service in community banking, was appointed President and CEO of The Peoples Bank and Bancorp in May of 2021, following a comprehensive multi-state search and vetting process. Sturgill’s extensive banking background and commitment to volunteerism and community relations have helped him hit the ground running as the Bank’s President and CEO.
Sturgill brings a multitude of Board experience to The Peoples Bank, with previous board memberships supporting the Business and Education Partnership, Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, and St. Patrick’s Chapel Historical Foundation. Sturgill currently is a member of the Millington Lions Club, and is an active member of the Chestertown, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Cecil Chambers of Commerce.
Mead, the former CEO of the Avon-Dixon Agency in Easton Maryland, also comes with a long list of board and professional experience in finance.
Mead began his career in the US Navy, serving 4 years of active duty and 4 years in the reserves before receiving a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Florida and an MBA of Finance from Loyola College in Towson, MD. Mead currently serves as a Director and Treasurer of Compass Regional Hospice and the President of the Caroline Foundation, a position he has held since 2013. During his more than 20-year tenure at the Avon-Dixon Agency, Mead fulfilled key positions as the COO, CFO, and Sales Manager, along with his final role as the CEO of the company. Mead also worked for 10 years in the banking industry as a commercial lender before his time at the Avon-Dixon Agency.
“The Board of The Peoples Bank couldn’t be more excited to welcome both Terry Mead and Scott Sturgill to our ranks,” said Gary Fellows, Chairman of The Peoples Bank Board of Directors. “Scott and Terry are both incredibly experienced in their respective fields and will add great knowledge and expertise to the Board. We couldn’t be more honored to have them join us.”
