WORTON — Kent County High School’s Spanish Honor Society added five new members this fall.
The induction ceremony for the Capitulo Los Troyanos Sociedad Honoria Hispánica was held in the high school’s media center Wednesday evening, October 26, 2022.
The fall inductees are Diane Ardon, Amaya Barrett, Guadalupe Duarte, Madison Messick and Jessica Rosanova.
The new additions to the Kent County High School chapter bring the total number of members up to 17.
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is nationally sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Kent County High School teacher Ida Nabb serves as the Capítulo Los Troyanos advisor.
The honor society recognizes high achievement in Spanish and Portuguese by students of secondary schools. It also promotes interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.
Requirements for membership include enrollment in a Spanish III class, achieving an 85% cumulative average in Spanish classes and maintaining a 3.0 grade point average in school.
Activities include attending meetings, holding fundraisers and earning required service hours.
