Main Street Chestertown is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sonia “Sonny” Huntzinger as its new Executive Director. With over two decades of experience in economic development, tourism marketing, and nonprofit leadership, Huntzinger brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for revitalizing communities and local economies.
Huntzinger joins Main Street Chestertown after serving as Economic Development Administrator for Chester County, PA, where she successfully launched initiatives to stimulate business growth, attract investment, and revitalize downtown Coatesville. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of Downtown Inc., York, PA, where she transformed the organization into a dynamic economic development agency, tripling the operational budget and significantly expanding volunteer engagement.

A credentialed economic development professional certified by the International Economic Development Council, Huntzinger has extensive experience in public-private partnerships, small business development, and destination branding. Her career highlights include raising over $3 million in private contributions and public grants, growing nonprofit staff capacities, and leading successful business attraction programs.
As Executive Director, Huntzinger will lead efforts to enhance Chestertown’s business district, foster community engagement, and promote the area as a premier destination for visitors and residents alike. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Muhlenberg College and an Associate of Arts from Monmouth University.
