‘Lion King Jr.’ roars onto KCHS stage

Get ready for a roaring good time this weekend when “Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” takes the stage at Kent County High School.

Students from Kent County High School, Kent County Middle School and Galena Elementary School are bringing Simba’s musical story to life for three performances.

Lionn King - KCHS PosterThe curtain goes up in the Kent County High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1. There is a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, March 2.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.

The show is directed by Kent County High School teacher Lori Armstrong, with Kent County Middle School teacher Kaitlyn Wright as assistant director.

“The Lion King Jr.” tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king.

Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon and loveable warthog Pumbaa.

To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked uncle Scar.

“The Lion King Jr.” features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” as well as additional numbers penned for the Broadway stage production.

Kent County High School is located at 25301 Lambs Meadow Road, Worton.
