The Kent County High School Class of 2025 is set to graduate at the end of the month, and alumnus Tynette Christy will be there offering words of encouragement.
Christy will be this year’s keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony, set for 10 a.m. Friday, May 30 in Trojan Stadium.
An Eastern Shore native, Christy graduated from Kent County High School in 1995. Her four children have all graduated from her alma mater as well. She worked as school’s guidance secretary from 2008 to 2016.
“I’m incredibly honored and grateful to be chosen as the 2025 commencement speaker for Kent County High School — a place that played a significant role in shaping the person I am today,” Christy said. “Having the opportunity to speak to the graduating class is a full-circle moment that fills my heart with joy.”
Driven by a deep desire to help others, Christy earned a degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix. She is a grief counselor for Compass Regional Hospice, providing compassionate support to individuals and families navigating loss.
In addition to her counseling work, she is an entrepreneur who runs a jewelry business she loves. She also co-hosts the podcast “It’s Rare Talk.”
Christy has a strong faith background and attends Work In Progress Ministries in Millington, where she was ordained as an Elder in 2023.
For over 18 years, she has been actively involved in her church, serving on various committees.
Her greatest passion is working with youth. Now mentoring many young women in her community, Christy leads both individual and group empowerment sessions, helping to inspire confidence and strength
.
She was recognized as a bestselling author in 2024, contributing to an anthology alongside 33 other women.
Beyond her ministry and writing, Christy enjoys traveling the world with her family and remains open to new opportunities to serve. She is committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of those she encounters.
Christy is excited about the opportunity to be of part of the graduation ceremony.
