OPERA COMES TO THE MAINSTAY

The Main Line Singers Will Present Their “Opera On The Chesapeake” Program on Sunday, November 23rd at 4 PM

The Main Line Opera Singers from Philadelphia have planned an evening of arias, duets, and ensemble pieces from operas and musical theater for their debut concert at The Mainstay in Rock Hall.

“We are very excited to bring voices of Opera music to Rock Hall and the Eastern Shore. We are especially excited to sing at The Mainstay, a world renowned artistic venue,” said Judge Jimmy Lynn, the sponsor or this concert. “Our operatic concert will be a first for Rock Hall. We hope to see many music lovers – not just opera lovers – at the concert to experience this great musical art form.”

Sopranos Teresa Anstatt, Christy Sutton, and Andrea Broido with baritones Enrico Adriano and Judge James Lynn make up The Main Line Singers. These artists, who have performed at nationally and internationally recognized venues, will be accompanied by Philadelphia pianist and opera coach Tim Crawford.

The evening begins with the entire cast singing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s It’s a Grand Night for Singing and concludes with the entire ensemble’s rendition of the Italian favorite O Sole Mio. The thoughtful and eclectic program includes arias and duets from Charles Gounod’s Faust, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto, Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, and the beautiful duet from Léo Delibes’s Lakmé.

Other popular pieces include Franz Schubert’s Ave Maria, “Think of Me” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera, and another Rodgers and Hammerstein favorite: “Climb Every Mountain” from The Sound of Music.
