Joy Sanders – Shorewoman of the Week
Junior women’s basketball player Joy Sanders (Baltimore, Md./Cristo Rey Jesuit) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Sanders averaged 14.5 points per game and a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game in a pair of contests this past week.
In a 70-63 win over visiting Swarthmore on Wednesday night, she scored 14 points and grabbed a game-best eight rebounds. On Saturday in a home game against Dickinson, she scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed a squad-best eight boards.
This is Sanders’ second career Shorewoman of the Week honor.
Jason Zielinski – Shoreman of the Week
Sophomore men’s basketball player Jason Zielinski (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millennium Brooklyn) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Zielinski averaged a team-best 16.7 points per game and led the team in socring in all three games this past week.
On Saturday against visiting Dickinson, the sophomore netted a team-best 18 points, scoring 13 of them after halftime. In the team’s game at Dickinson on Monday, Zielinski tied for game-high with 17 points as he drained five three-pointers. On Wednesday versus #16 Swarthmore, Zielinski scored 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the floor against the guests. He shot 50% from three-point range for the week and sank all eight free throws.
This is Zielinski’s second career Shoreman of the Week honor.
