Ellie Morrall and Koby Bonta are Washington College’s Shorewoman/Shoreman of the Week

Ellie Morrall – Shorewoman of the Week

Junior women’s lacrosse player Ellie Morrall (Contoocook, N.H./Hopkinton) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Morrall netted a game-high five goals at #6 Gettysburg on Saturday in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Tournament.

Morrall scored the team’s first two goals and gave Washington a 2-1 lead with 11:23 left to go in the first quarter as she scored her first two in a span of 49 seconds. The junior added three more tallies during the team’s 6-1 run that took place during the second and third quarters that saw Washington tie the game at 8-8 in the third quarter. On Wednesday in a 10-6 win over visiting Swarthmore in the first round of the conference tournament, she won three draws, scooped up three ground balls and netted a goal as the Shorewomen won their first conference tournament game since 2013.

This is Morrall’s first career Shorewoman of the Week honor.

Koby Bonta – Shoreman of the Week

Senior men’s tennis player Koby Bonta (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Bonta won in both singles and doubles in the team’s 5-0 win in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament over visiting Franklin & Marshall last Tuesday.

Against F&M, Bonta and Landon Strober teamed up at No. 2 doubles to register Washington’s first win of the of afternoon with an 8-3 win over the Diplomats’ duo of Justin Pace and Tristan Steffe. In No. 3 singles, Bonta gave the Shoremen a 4-0 lead as he topped Steffe, 6-4, 6-2. On Saturday, the senior also picked up Washington’s lone point against #12 Johns Hopkins in the conference tournament semifinal in his final career match.

This is Bonta’s first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
