Volunteers Handle Multiple Accidents with Entrapment

On Monday September 17, 2018 shortly after 9am, units from Millington and Galena along with Kent County EMS were alerted for an MVC with entrapment involving a cement mixer. Ambulance 2 and Rescue 2 made the response with 8 volunteers. Upon arrival crews found a full cement mixer that had rolled onto its roof with the driver still pinned in the vehicle. Crews were able to make secure the vehicle and make access to the driver. As extrication efforts were started Kent County EMS determined that unfortunately the patient had passed from their injuries. Extrication was completed and the scene was turned over the Maryland State Police. Lieutenant 2-1 had command of the scene.

Shorty after 4pm crews were dispatched to assist the Galena Volunteer Fire Company with an MVC with rollover. Crews arrived to find units from Galena out with a single vehicle rollover with entrapment. The crew from Station 2 worked alongside crews from station 3 to complete the extrication and remove 2 patients from the vehicle. Crews cleared shorty after.
