Shoreman Danny Sheeler Named Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week

Lancaster, PA – The Centennial Conference named Washington College sophomore first baseman Danny Sheeler (Towson, Md./Loyola Blakefield) as the Player of the Week for February 22. This is the first time Sheeler has won the conference’s weekly award.

Sheeler batted .533 (8-for-15) with a home run, six RBIs and six runs scored in three games this weekend for the Shoremen at Methodist in North Carolina. Sheeler notched at least two hits and two RBIs in each game. In the season opener against Messiah on Saturday, he went 3-for-5 and plated two runs.

Against Arcadia on Sunday in the team’s first game of the day, he went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs, three runs and a walk. The sophomore socked a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth was the team’s first homer of 2022.

Later in the day in an 18-14 win over host Methodist, he went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs. He had a run-scoring base hit in the third inning and plated the team’s second of 11 runs in the top of the seventh on a single. On the weekend, he had a .563 on-base percentage and a .800 slugging percentage.

The Shoremen will be back in action on Friday afternoon against Arcadia (at Mary Washington) at 2:15 p.m.
