Molly Sharpe & Lexie Witmer – Shorewoman of the Week

Senior women’s lacrosse player Molly Sharpe (Towson, Md./Notre Dame Prep) and junior softball player Lexie Witmer (Drexel Hill, Pa/Upper Dary) share this week’s Shorewoman of the Week honor. Sharpe and Witmer each set career-highs this past week for the Shorewomen.

Sharpe tallied seven goals and added an assist in a pair of game this week for the Shorewomen. The senior scored a career-best five goals to lead all players in a 10-7 win at Ursinus on Wednesday evening. Sharpe’s fifth goal gave Washington the lead for good at 8-7 with 8:28 left in the fourth quarter as WC closed the game on a 4-0 run. She also added three ground balls in the comeback win. On Saturday afternoon at #2 Franklin & Marshall, she scored a pair of goals and added an assist to go along with two draw controls.

Witmer hit .632 (12-for-19) with a home run, seven RBI and six runs scored in a 4-2 week for the Shorewomen. In Thursday’s 6-4 win in game two at F&M, she went 3-for-3 with two runs and a pair of doubles after going 2-for-3 with a run and RBI in the 6-0 game one win as she went 5-for-6 in the twinbill. On Wednesday in the opener versus Marymount, she had her first career four-hit game, also a personal-best, as she went 4-for-4 with three RBI as her second inning RBI base hit to right field put WC ahead for good, 3-2, as the Shorewomen won 8-2. In game two, she had an RBI and run scored in a 6-1 victory over Marymount. Against Gettysburg on Saturday, she went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader, including socking her first career home run, a two-run blast, in game two as she went 2-for-3 in the second contest. Witmer had a .636 on-base percentage and slugged .895 for an OPS of 1.531.

This is the first career Shorewoman of the Week honor for both Sharpe and Witmer.

Brandon Hoffman – Shoreman of the Week

Senior baseball player Brandon Hoffman (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Hoffman hit a team-best .471 and drove in the winning run on Friday in the Shoremen’s win at Franklin & Marshall.

Hoffman went 8-for-17 at the plate with three RBI, four runs scored and four walks in five games played this past week. On Friday at F&M, Hoffman served a two-out base hit to left field to score Chris Baker to snap a 5-5 tie as the Shoremen scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to turn a 5-4 deficit into a 6-5 win. Against Ursinus on Sunday, the senior went 5-for-8 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in the doubleheader, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the first game, a 12-5 WC triumph, and 2-for-4 with a run scored in game two. The senior played in game two on Saturday at Gettysburg and scored two runs and drew a pair of walks in a 16-12 victory.

This is Hoffman’s first career Shoreman of the Week honor.
