Spring Musical at Kent School is Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, members of Kent School’s Class of 2022 will perform Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. The performances will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the School’s M. V. “Mike” Williams Gymnasium. Admission is free and the performances are open to the public.

From the Musical Theater International website, “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.”

With household objects coming to life, Beauty and the Beast, Jr. offers many opportunities for imaginative sets and costumes. Led by Art teacher, Amy Bower, Seventh Grade students are responsible for designing and construction sets. In addition to Ms. Bower as the play’s set and prop designer, the following individuals are instrumental to a successful production:
