University of Maryland Shore Regional Health Welcomes Sualeha Khalid, MBBS, to Diabetes and Endocrinology Team

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) has welcomed Sualeha Khalid, MD, to the provider team at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Group (UM SMG) – Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

Dr. Khalid brings extensive experience in endocrine oncology, general endocrinology and specialized research to the Eastern Shore community. She joined UM SRH following a fellowship in Endocrine Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and her tenure as Chief Fellow in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Dr. Khalid earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2018. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, where she also served as Chief Resident of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. She holds board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

Throughout her medical training, Dr. Khalid has been recognized for clinical excellence and leadership. Her accolades include the Golden Apple Award for outstanding resident dedication to teaching and quality healthcare, alongside distinctions in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety from Albany Medical College.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Khalid is an active researcher. Her recent work focuses on optimizing the use of thyroid ultrasounds, exploring underrecognized RET gene variants and advancing the treatment of advanced thyroid cancer.
