University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System, is offering two free health education classes this month at the University of Maryland Medical Center at Chestertown.
On Tuesday, October 13, the Kent Shore Community Outreach Team (SCOT) will present a class on tips and tricks for staying organized when managing your own health or the health of a loved one. Called “Organize Your Health,” this class will cover the following topics: communicating with health providers, preventive care screenings, health journaling, advanced directives, medication management and the use of healthcare technology.
Vitals for Life, set for Thursday, October 22, 5 to 7 p.m., provides basic instruction about the human body’s vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and body temperature. Participants will learn how to measure their vital signs and how to identify abnormalities that may warrant medical attention.
Both classes will take place in the hospital’s Roger D. Brown Education Center. For more information or to register, contact Sandra Wilson-Hypes, Community Health Educator, 667-343-3151, SandraWilsonHypes@umm.edu.
